Hi, after lots of reading, i have decided to buy a new SB.

My main doubt now is about SSD.

I saw that the one provided by Sony looks way too expensive at +350€ for a 120Gb drive, while i can buy a Vertex II 180Gb for 274€ for example.

Is the Sony one just overpriced or is it a good reason to buy it as extra? else, i would chose the cheapest HD in the Sony website and then buy and replace it with an SSD, but in that case... which one is recommended here? is it easy to replace the original HD with the SSD? does it void the warranty?

    Thanks in advance!

Buy the smallest HDD and go for the best SSD you can find/are willing to buy.

It wont oid the warranty, there is also instructions of how to do it in the manual

The SSDs are like RAM upgrades - much cheaper to do aftermarket than from the company. Mr MM is correct - buy it separately.
They are one of the best upgrades you can do BTW - have one in my FW and my Sony netbook.

Doesn't the SDD in the SB run in RAID 0 like in the Z?

It doesn't seem like the SB has the B2 stepping as shown in CPUZ but if it does, it'll cause problems.

there is an option for that, but I advise against the Raid 0 depending on the SSD that is equipped, basically because there isnt trim support for that, and some drives (well all of them, minus intel, samsung, and some kingston models) get a baseline performance without it.
