    Ok guys, please don't ask me about the exact reason why I want to do this (long story...), just know this;

    At this moment the best solution to get my two-year old Z590 system run properly again, seems to be putting a new Hard Drive Disk (HDD) in there, with a working image of Windows for Z-models on it.

    However, now I can choose (for my Z590-system) out of the following Windows images:
    1- Windows XP Pro for Z590
    2- Windows Vista for Z590
    3- Windows 7 for Z7 & Z8

    So, for images 1 and 2 I can be sure that they will work perfectly on my Z590 system (with WWAN, all fn-keys, the stamina-speed button etc all working just fine).

    Yet, I actually would prefer having Windows 7 on my machine.. My question is; how likely is it that option 3 will work perfectly in my Z590 system? Thus, option 3 is an image of Windows 7 (incl. drivers) such that it would work perfectly on Sony Vaio Z7 and Z8 models. Yet, its unclear whether that would also work on a Z590-model.. What do you think??

    Looking forward to your insights!

    It will probably work providing it doesnt check the model # from dmi. I'm not sure you'll be able to activate it though. only one way to find out...

    Apart from the activation issues, there are a couple of things that don't work with Windows 7 on a Z590:

    - WinDVD. It says it installs, but it's nowhere to be found after "installing".

    - Sprint WWAN. You need the Vista SmartWi for this.

    - EFI boot. You have to "upgrade" your BIOS emulator to one that has EFI boot disabled. This also makes it harder to get at the advanced menu in the BIOS setup.

    Activate what... Activate my Windows 7 version with Microsoft? Or activate my model with Sony?
