I'm currently looking into the Sony FZ11s which is really the only best buy FZ here in the UK. Unlike US buyers, we can't customize any sonys, which is just poo.
I would've liked a 2.0GHz processor, but thats only on the top FZ here in the UK, which is £1299. However, I'm allowing myself to go down to 1.8 GHz, hopefully that isn't a big drop in performance.

My main point is, on the Vaio UK website, it says that the FZ's maximum main memory is 2048mb. How long will 2GB of RAM be good enough in the future? i.e. how many years can I last with reasonable speed with 2GB RAM.
My other question related to that, is, it says(on sony's website) that the maximum memory of the FZ is 2GB, so probably it only has 2 memory slots which are already taken up(2x 1GB). Is it possible to take one of these 1GB out, and swap it with a 2GB, therefore obtaining higher than proper "max memory of 2GB"?

Btw, sorry about my poor english, i'm very....very tired.

I'm in the US, but our FZs have a max memory of 4 gb. Since RAM is coming in 2 gb sticks now, if the max memory is 2 gigs that would mean that there's only one slot; which is unlikely IMO.

If you look on the sony uk site, it says max memory of 2048...however, it also tells you that it is 2x1024..so it means that there are 2 slots available. Most mainstream notebooks have 2 slots... So you can always get more ram and add it in yourself afterwards as sony charges way too much for the upgrade...The maximum the notebook can handle is 4gb... using vista 32bit you can only use 3-3.5gb of the 4gbs. You have to go with 64bit vista to use all 4gb...

In regards to 2gb performance, it depends on what you plan on doing with your notebook. 2gb is quite a bit and would be more than adequate for most people. However, gaming and video editing can always be improved with more ram. I am trying to decide whether or not to upgrade to 4 gb of ram as the price is fairly cheap right now.

On the FZ11S can you turn the bluetooth on and off or is it always on?

Ah right, you've answered my question bang on. Thanks. Well, thats made me choose the Sony FZ much happier. I was just a bit concerned when it said 'max memory, 2048mb' however it also stated that the current memory was 2x1gb so obviously I can replace on of these 1GB sticks with a higher one. I just wanted someones reassurance of that.

I think 2GB of RAM is quite a lot for me, which is good. I'm currently on 128mb, lol, which makes my computer function ok tbh - for my standards anyway.
