Hey guys,
Yesterday I got my Vaio FS840 and now I would be asking lot many questions from the geeks out here... (For those interested its a beautiful machine with an addictively awesome screen... and i wud put in 2 gigs to add beast to the beauty...lets see whether its an overkill!)
Now I have following Qs...
1.) How to clean install a new OS...am planning to put XP Media Center OS in it...(for legal eyesores i have a licensed copy from my desktop)... so will the same drivers which are working in this machine with XP Home work in the new OS? I mean are Vaio drivers different for different OS versions of XP?
2.) Sound from inbuilt speakers is toooooooooo low... can i do smthing to make it a little louder ?
DVDs look pixelated on this machine but i asked this in another post.... still to get a solution![]()

DID i asked some not-too-geeky questions? ...or is it that no one might be knowing the answers :-?

I don't have an FS, but I think I can answer your questions. The drivers that are presently working with XP Home will also work with the Media Center version of the operating system. XP, XP Pro, XP Media Center (which is also Pro) are all, for all intents and purposes, Windows XP as far as drivers are concerned. Just make sure that you have all of the drivers for your system on disc before you reformat, you don't want to be caught without them, and i've read that the Sony website isn't the most comprehensive when it comes to driver downloads. So just double check.
As far as the sound, There was a program that I found here at the forums...or it could have been at www.notebookforums.com, I don't recall...but if you search Toshiba 3D, or Toshiba sound etc...there was a program I had installed on my system which actually increased the sound output quite a bit. I don't know how it would conflict with what you have now, but it's worth a try. It's software that is designed for Toshiba's, but it worked on the Dell that I had, and if I remember correctly it worked on anything with an HD audio chip (which is most modern systems.....I think). Check it out.
Hope that helps a little...
