Hey guys, i recently purchased that new Sony Vaio F 3D laptop. It's a beautiful machine, and i personally installed 8GB or RAM and changed the original HDD to a 120GB Intel 510 Series SSD.
The Intel 510 is a SATA3, and is suppose to have a read speed of up to 450MB/s. However, i am only getting around 280-300MB/s.... From this, i am now wondering if there're something i gotta do with the SSD or maybe the Laptop itself just doesn't have a SATA3 Port which allow data transfer of up to 6Gbs.
P.S. This laptop has 2 USB 3.0 ports, so i would just assume it should carry SATA3? I donno, i think my assumption might be wrong based on my read test ....
Thoughts?
Thx in advance for everyone's help.
1. I am running window 7 Home 64bit
2. Processor is the Intel i7 2620QM

Sandy Bridge supports SATA 6Gb/s.

It has Sata 3. But I just wanted to correct an erroneous notion you have - having USB 3.0 in your laptop does not mean having Sata 3. My F13 has 2 USB 3.0 and Sata 2. My chipset does not support SATA 3.

Bye the way tam421602 do you test it if can pass-through HD-AUDIO ( DTS-MA - DOLBY TRUE HD - LPCM) to external AVR - RECEIVER?

Thx for your answer
I am glad to know that it is running with the sata3 interface
However, I don't understand why my intel 510 SSD is getting no where close to the 450MB/s and instead only hitting around the 280mB/s range.
Also, no, sorry, I haven't tried to Connect it to a receiver yet -
Well I've answered your question in the F 3D owners lounge, don't think it would make sense for me to post the here again. So please check that thread.
