I'm helping a friend who has some malware problems, and have come across a setup that seems odd to me. Yes the laptop is old, but for his needs it is just fine.
The system is setup as it was from the factory. There is one HD broken into 2 partitions. The first partition is FAT32, the second is NTFS.
The Fat32 partion is the boot drive. The NTFS partition is actually larger than the boot drive and I expected to see all the data residing there. I was wrong, however, as only the page file is on the NTFS partition. I did find one old shortcut on this drive which makes me wonder if data was to have been loaded there at one point. He doesn't have the skills to make such a move though.
Why would this be the way to set up the laptop?

InfyMcGirk while(!(succeed=try()));
It seems unlikely that this was the original setup. How do you know this is "as it was from the factory"?

Just what I was told.
So, what would be best at this point? Moving all data to D:? I don't want to have to rebuild the OS at this point as I've finally managed to get rid of all the malware.
