I have some serious creaking issues with my right hinge. While the left hinge dosen't make any noise when applied pressue, the right hinge makes a cracking sound when the lid is pushed back from that side only. Upon observing, it seems it extends further out than the left hinge.

I am under warranty, so would SONY be able to personally come down and repair it?

Z - isn't it ;)) popular problem! Quite a few threads and MANY post about that! Why don't you check them out... You can repair it yourself.

You can start with this one:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/sony/518194-faulty-hinges-vaios.html

And continue for more details with the Z Owners thread(s).

There are also a few dedicated threads about that problem you can search for.

    But to answer your question:
That depends very much on the country where you are located. Best way to find out - give them a call and ask...
