Hi everyone, you might find this question is stupid, but I hate the fact that SR does not come with any higher resolution than old boring 1280 x 800. I work with many heavy programs and I need a bigger resolution, I just want to ask, since I customized my SR with optional ATI graphic card, can I be able to change to anything higher than the original screen resolution in the SR? If not is there any alternative way to personalize upgrade the graphic card just to get what I want, if the answer is yes, the rest is just a detail. I find the Sony vaio Z is more power mostly the the screen resolution. Each of opinion is a great appreciation. Thank you.

You need to upgrade the monitor LCD, not the GPU. Your GPU cannot be upgraded anyway.

    Each pacific monitor?

IF you can, you should contact sony and talk to them about replacing it with a higher resolution monitor, though it will cost you if you can.

    Bingo.

You'll have to find an LCD part that was designed for, or pulled from, another notebook just like yours. That is going to be expensive, and you ought to consider buying an external monitor first.

Uhm, but they don't make the SR in any screen except for the 1280x800 standard format unfortunately.

So I don't know if you will even be able to ever get more than 1280, unless you use an external monitor and get a bigger resolution that way?

The only display that is the same size but higher res is the one that is used in the Thinkpad X300. Trust me on this one you don't want that display. For what it would cost to replace the display on your SR you might as well buy a Z.
