    Which of the models have the LED backlight? Only the SZ680 models?

    Look at their series number code:

    SZ6x0Nyy

    x = 8 = premium
    x = 4 = non-premium
    yy = different configurations

    Aren't the premium models SZ6x0?

    x = 5+ = premium

    Basically only the SZ640 model isn't premium, and the SZ691 is the top of the line model with a different pattern on the case.

    That makes sense, I was looking at various SZ's and all the premiums's were SZ680Nxx.

    Yes, this is correct. SZ640's are all magnesium alloy casings and no LED LCD screen. All SZ650 + (650,660,670, and 680CTO) are all premium with the carbon fiber casings and with LED LCD screen. The SZ691 is the most top of the line SZ model with the Premium carbon fiber casing that has the "weave" look and has a glossy coating that gives it shine and suppose to add extra durability.

    In simple terms: SZ650 and above have LED screens.

    Oki doke, all I needed to know. I really liked the 480 I had before. I like macs, but my macbook isn't so good for work and stuff. It's a tossup between the Asus W7 series and the new SZ650+ ... they're priced pretty similarly.

    I think you could break it down like this.

    SZ650 advantages
    longer battery life
    runs cooler
    slightly lighter
    no RAM limitation
    fingerprint reader

    W7S advantages
    more robust case
    better keyboard
    one more USB port
    cheaper
    better warranty
