When I saw it in the store a week ago it felt very bumpy and rough.... but the silver version was a lot smoother feeling. Does anyone have this laptop in the standard black color to verify. I like the black better but if the lid is this rough I will settle for silver.

    Help is appreciated.

Maybe the one you saw was Gunmetal color. The gunmetal color is like a textured brushed metallic greyish black.

By standard I mean on the standard S13. God, I love how everyone bought either the Premium or the S15......

So the regula $799 Sony Vaio S13 Black is textured right? What about the premium model that starts at $1,119 with the Carbon Fiber Black? Is that more high quality premium feel?

I got the standard S13 with the Intel 4000/1368X768 res or whatever it is.
Its a matte finish, magnesium. its "bumpy" on the lid.

How is the screen quality on it? Are the colors great and vivid and are they nice when watching movies or videos?

its ok, i wouldn't say its vivid
I only watched some youtube vids with it.
    Color's pretty accurate.

the viewing angles aren't great, but im spoiled in the color/viewing angles/quality by my Ultrasharp U2711 that i use at home, so having the vaio screen next to the ultrasharp, makes the vaio screen look really heavy on the backlit bleeding.
