I tried changing the partitions, windows stopped booting. Instead of going for a repair I thought I'd attempt a clean install and see how things worked. I saved the drivers folder from the old windows install so I wouldn't have to download bunch of things. All my hardware appears to be working, the stam/speed switch appears to work. The only issues I have are:

    1. Some of the Fn shortcuts don't work: Fn+F1 (toggle the touchpad), Fn+F9-F10(zoom) and Fn+F12 (sleep)

    2. When I close the lid it goes to sleep only instead of all lights going off and staying in that state for as long as I want, the power light slowly flashes orange for a period of time then it goes into hibernation. Makes for a much longer start time than before.

    3. The- VAIO and ASSIST shortcuts don't work, but I really don't care about those anyway.

One thing I did was installed with UEFI turned off in bios, what kind of affect will that have overall?

    Any suggestions, ideas?
