I am just wondering to decide SZ240P10 or SZ230P/B, given the same price (more or less).

I don't know why SZ240P10 which is equipped with 2.0 GHz is just little more costly (about US$30-50) than the SZ230 P/B??? Do you think sonyvaio "made in Japan" is normally more expensive than "made in USA"?

The only differences are as follows:

    SZ240P10
    - HDD 100 G
    - RAM: 512 MB DDR2
    - Made in USA (as far as I know this is CTO series)

    SZ230P/B
    - HDD 120 G
    - RAM: 1 GB DDR2
    - Made in Japan (it is assemblied in Japan)

Kindly Pls help me to have the right choice.
    Thanks

It's not really made in USA. It's more like assembled in USA with foreign components since the SZ240 is a customizable laptop.
I think it's more expensive because it's customizable.

If "...more expensive because it's customizable", then the SZ240P10 (CTO series) with Core duo 2.0 GHz should have much more expensive than SZ230p/B. But in fact, SZ240P10 is just about $US40 more than SZ230P/B!!!.

What do you think about the quality of SZ CTO (Configure To Order) and the "Original" one. For instance, SZ240 is CTO, which is labelled "made in USA"; And SZ220, 230, 260, 280 are the "Original" one, which are all labelled "made in Japan"???
