To make a long story short, I need a new laptop and decided on the sz750.
The problem I am having is the difference between the photo of the model...

    here:

    http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs...10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921665296591

    and here:

    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8709221&type=product&id=1199496322538

Notice the differences in keyboard color and the lack of a WAN antenna on Best Buy's photos.

has anyone purchased this model from best buy?
    is the stock photo wrong?
is it a different configuration of the same model?

I have already contacted Best Buy on the phone with no success and am waiting on responses from email support at Best Buy and Sony.

    Thanks for the help.

    I am aware of 2 variants of VGN-SZ750N/C :

    - The black keyboard is Sony Vaio VGN-SZ750N/C 2.1Ghz SZ Thin
    - The white keyboard is Sony Vaio VGN-SZ750N/C 2.1Ghz SZ Thi

EDIT : A Google search can confirm the above. For the black keyboard variant, the suffix "SZ Thin" is often dropped.

Assuming you also bought from Best Buy in this context, and this seller simply treats one variant for the other without regards to what it advertised in the photo, I would take extra care to specify to the seller which color I really want if I were to place an order.

whats the difference between the SZ650N/C and SZ750N/C from bestbuy besides the fact of the WAN. The SZ650N/C is only 961.99 at BestBuy

What's the URL? That's very cheap. The differences are the processor and larger HD.

There is no URL. I had to buy mine at one BB that was selling it for 1150 then get a price adjustment at the BB selling it for 961.99. Most BBs are probably still selling for 1600+ and wherever is selling for the low price may be sold out but I have a technique that should work in theory for getting the low price of 961.99 at pretty much any store that has it in stock

Its YMMV but it can be done

Yes brand new if you can still find a bestbuy that has it brand new. Most stores probably have display models. BestBuy is clearancing these out at all stores and the stores have different clearance prices, the lowest price seen so far being 961.99 but many probably still range in the 1600s. There are many methods to getting this laptop to 961.99

Well the first thing you can do is go to BestBuy and get an employee to see if there are any stores that are selling it for 961.99 that has it in stock. If you see a store that has it in stock at 961.99 then just go there and buy it.

If you find a store that doesn't have it in stock at the 961.99 price then you can try going to a store that does have it in stock and get a pricematch. Thats usually depends on the manager who will usually deny your claim but who knows, they might be in a good mood when you ask.

Another method is the buy/price adjustment method or the return/buyback method. You go buy it at a store that has it in stock and go to the store selling it for 961.99 and ask for a price adjustment. Usually I just go to the customer service person and ask for a price check on my receipt of the item I want to price adjust. Once they see the lower price, they should automatically price adjust it or you can tell them to. Since there could be up to a 600 dollar difference on this laptop when you price adjust, it might raise a few flags. The other method is you return the laptop for the price you bought it at another store then buy it at the 961.99 store price. Usually you make up an excuse that you want to return and rebuy on another credit card or something like that. This method may also be difficult also because of the high value and restocking fees may apply.

As I mentioned I got mine for around 1150 at one store then went to a store that had it for 961.99 but out of stock and got my receipt price adjusted. This laptop will replace my SZ330 that I bought a year ago from Office Depot for 1150 on clearance, hopefully I can sell the SZ330 for the same price I bought the SZ650N/C at.

    Good Luck fellow Vaio owners

By the way I did not explain my secret in the post above, if I did then it wouldn't be a secret. The only clue I can give is my secret method is as easy as doing an online in store pick up :)

Are you afraid to tell us or something? Don't worry we're not all going to bombard the Bestbuys and get 5 units and leave nothing for you. You've already gotten your 650, what's the problem in telling us?

I think if you try fatwallet or slickdeals.net you'll get a lot of such tips.
