    Hey Guys,

If I install a 7200rpm Hard Drive into a SZ:

    - What are the benefits?
    - What are the negatives?

    - Will the computer be more noisy and produce more heat?
    - Will it be heavier?
    - Will it reduce the battery life?
    - heard that it improves game loading times. What else does it do?

    Thanks.

Been answered many times here, but quickly.

    1. Not heavier
    2. Heat is minimal to not at all greater. It's just fine on mine, unlike my old Sharp where I put the 7200 in and it's significantly hotter
    3. I haven't noticed. Still get 7+ hours with the extended battery.
    4. Er, it'll improve disk access across the board from booting your system to anything else.

The only real negative is Sony made it a pain in the ass to replace it.

If you purchase a high end, well-reputed brand like Seagate or Hitachi, you won't have any problems with heat or noise.

The weight gain will be negligible.

It should not affect battery life too significantly...
It may decrease it about ten minutes.

It speeds up your boot time and also the time it takes to access anything stored on the drive, of course.

Does anybody know of a guide with pictures on how to change the hard drive on an SZ machine?
