Hi, I'm planning to get my hand on a Sony Vaio SR / FW series after my horrendous experience with HP. I have a few questions about Sony.

    1) What is manufacturer's limited warranty ? I can't seem to get any information about it. If I purchase a laptop online, I'm automatically entitled 1 year warranty ? Then what about the 1 year extended service plan ? Does it mean I could get 1 year free warranty + the extended I purchased = 2 years ?

    2) I can't seem to find Sony's official forum like the others HP, Lenovo's forum. Is there even one for Sony ?

    3) So is Sony's laptop reliable ? I wouldn't want to get another laptop like my HP dv2523tx with faulty LCD, motherboard within 2 years time.

Thanks for clarifying my doubts !

    1) Yes, that's howit works.

For some countries you get 2 years by law - e.g. Germany.

    2) There is, look here:
    http://club.vaio.sony.eu/clubvaio/DE/de/forum/index

(menus are german for me, if they are for you, change the language, entries in the forum are in English)

    3) Overal Vaios tend to be reasonably well built - however, there is anoticeable difference between consumer level laptops and business models, and high en models vs. low end ones (not meaning different speced versions of same model)
