I am about to purchase a TX670 and have some questions for you.
1)Does the Wimax roaming come unlocked? How does one seek an unlocking code for it? I travel internationally and would like to use local SIM cards and want to make sure it will work elsewhere. Will Sony or Cingular provide us the unlock code and if so, when?
2)Does it come with a S-video port?
3)What region is the DVD? Does it get locked to any particular region?
4)Can one buy it without the cingular SIM card? i.e if i want to use it ONLY while travelling outside the US, can one do so?
5)How much does the standard battery last? Does te extended battery stick out?
6) Whats the best external resolution one can get while projecting it on a large screen?
7)How does one order the leather case? can one see a picture of it somewhere?

they have nothing todo with the wimax. Cingular does everything. the SIM cannot be changed. Have to do roaming ONLY (this is bizzare, for i have never heard of a sim locked to the body of a notebook physically)
this is AFTER cingular told me that sony alone can answer abt it!!
no s video; dvd locks after 4 changes;no leather case; std battery will last between 1.5-3 hrs only.
SONY SUCKS.. -
Sorry, not to be rude or anything, but other than question 3 (region 1 being my guess as the answer), you can find all answers on the TX Series specs page of the Sonystyle website.

If you seriously think Sony sucks because of those reasons, you might as well say the same thing about virtually every laptop manufacturer.

And indeed sony does suck on that count. -
Sony actually has instructions for unlocking the SIM cards on the T300 series in the KB on their support site. Can't post a direct link, but it it's the second KB article from the top for that series. Found it in < 1 minute. I would assume that roughtly the same procedeure would be applicable to the TX600 series.
Like any support service, I think Sony's is a toss up. I called them a couple times today, talked to 4 different people, and 2 of them were very knowledgeable and helpful, and the other 2 were dolts. Par for the course if you ask me.
