    Finger print reader
    Can somebody identify the vendor and the model of the fingerprint?

    I've read that with linux in the past there was some problem, it that true?

    G sensor
    I know the software distributed by sony is only for windows, and i want to know if the software is fundamental for the feature or os only optional to control the feature;

    I think it's stupid to implement the feature using software .... anybody knows something more about it?

    It's possibile to have it on linux?

    thanks
    thanks

    It's an UPEK TouchStrip Fingerprint Sensor. I'm not finding the exact model listed in the device manager.

    Well regarding your G-Sensor.

    Its definitely hardware, else you couldn't measure acceleration, and that's what it is about.
    Now there are two ways to do that
    1. in the Harddrive
    2. externally (i.e. outside HDD)

    As I just need to tap the laptop in the area of my HDD to register I suspect its HDD based. (Linux -> look at HDD manufacturer)
    Regarding the "is it required".
    And the software is used to control the feature - as the notice (taskbar) will come up after the HDD reacted I'm pretty sure the "fundamentals" (reception and reaction) are implemented in the HDD itself, yet the software is needed to control it. I also suspect it won't work without software, as the software acts as a switch/control unit.
    (Try to run your car without the keyholes, buttons and steering wheel, it won't work ;) )

    By the way: All the above is deduction and not based on literature!
