Ok, i haven't made recovery disks up until now (now i actually need them). But do they back up everything installed (settings, apps, drivers) on your SZ at the time or does it just back up all of the factory stuff?

Reason why i need to do a restore is because i installed vista on a seperate partition. I then changed my mind since i could not find all of the drivers. So i deleted the Vista partition. But when i start my not book it still asks me what version of windows that i was to boot into.

So im doing this because i want my computer to boot like normal.

    Anything input would be helpful.

    Thanks,

in windows xp go to control panel>system>advacned tab>and startup and recovery and you can edit it manually and take out the vista option or just uncheck it so that it wont display your options for 30 seconds

Did you join the all the partitions into 1 single partition?

hrm.. did you remove the option off the startup and recovery list? or did you just uncheck the 30 seconds? and if u have a bootable xp cd then you can probably do a bootrepair... but i dont think you really need that.... yet

the recovery disk will return the vaio back to its original factory condition or it can just reinstall windows (I'm not too sure about the latter). but the recovery disk does not recover to your last settings.
I think if you want to save the settings andsuch, you need something like Norton Ghost with their backup hard drive or clone drive function.

alright guys thanks for coming to my rescue. I fixed it by using the recovery console. Just did a fix boot. Fixed the damn thing in less than 15 seconds.

Now all is well in Prophet land
