    Hi!

Tomorrow I´ll finally spend my hard earned cash and I have my sight set on a Sony Vaio. I don't know which one I should choose. My options are:

    Sony Vaio VPC-EB3Z1E, 1920x1080, i5 460, HD5650
    Sony Vaio VPC-F12M1E, 1920x1080, i5 520, GT330

They are both sold for the same price at my local store (in Sweden). The EB is smaller which I like very much, and the gpu is better. The F12 gives me a larger laptop and a faster cpu.

Is there any other major differences between the two? How about build quality? How about image quality?

    Thanks in advance:
    K.

Depends on whether or not you'd prefer portability over screen size and gpu vs. cpu. If you game more i'd suggest the one with the better gpu, however cpu ties in with all activities. Image quality is will suit well on both, but may be crisper on the smaller laptop with the same high resolution. Unsure about build quality, but I've seen and felt enough Sony Vaios to have confidence.

Personally I'd take the EB for form factor. I'm not a power user or gamer so I don't have too much experience with pushing my laptop to its performing limits.

    Thanks for the fast reply:

I'll probably stay away from gaming as much as possible. I need the laptop for more work related stuff, mostly programming C++ and Java. The EB feels like the right choice so far. I guess the line between the two series E and F is kind of blurred when it comes to those two laptops.

    Your welcome :)

If you're only doing programming either would do based upon your size preference. Both processors are well off enough for your needs; compiling code won't pose a problem. My laptop is in my signature and I have no problem at all running 3D engineering programs such as AutoCAD 2011 and ProEngineer along with some HTML (only Notepad ++) and multiple browsers open.
