I have a Windows7 Ultimate disc and i used up the cdkey too many times. If I install it onto my VaioZ without using a product key, it will let me choose which version of Win7 I like to install. Well my question is, after installation may I use the SONY OEM product key and it'll get activated? Or that isn't the solution..

It will only work if the OEM key is for Windows7 Ultimate. I assume you didnt order it with Win7 Ultimate, so you're going to either have to buy an upgrade or a new key, sorry =(

If i do not enter a product key during the initial installation process, it will let me select which version (i.e. starter, home, premium, ultimate) to install. when the setup is done installing windows7, then i can go into the activation process and put in sony oem win7 key. That is what i wanted to confirm is if anyone tried this method.

ahh okay, then yes, it should work, because the OEM key is just the license to use the software, it's not actually tied to any one disk(iso image), but then again, i could be wrong... sorry for the quick answer before. I mean you do have a key(OEM or not, it shouldnt matter).

just make sure you install the same version (home, pro, etc.) that your key is for. Activation will error out and you'll need to use the telephone option, but it should work.

With Windows7 Ultimate disc you can install only Ultimate version. For non-Ultimate you have to edit Windows7 Ultimate image. Just delete ei.cfg file with UltraISO from ISO image.
