Easy to throw XP on it or will I have to take a quest?

Overal noise of the system when doing some hard work - noisy?

Do the Vaios come with Vista on a disc so I can put it back on in the future?

    Thanks for your time.

Sony includes a built in recovery partition which allows you to make your own disks if you choose so, but no they do not include backups disks.

I personally haven't tried installing Windows XP on my SZ650, but the US buyers got free downgrades disks so all the drivers we need are provided. I'm sure you'd be able to get XP on it with the help of this forum.

As for noise, I have US a SZ650, and the amount of noise it makes is normal. It's actually very quiet, unless you stop to listen.

Thanks. I might go for it.

Can you give me any reasons why not to go for a SZ61WN/C?

The noise of my current laptop is like the sound of an Xbox360 running a game (not sure if you've had the privelage, but that's a noise beast :)).

I'll be using the laptop to do PC based music production. I'll be buying from UK.

Well I can't think of any reason not to buy

Well quite a few of users reported yellow/green bands on the screens. Also noise issues with the fan have also be posted. Just make sure to check any defects such as these in the first couple days of purchasing. Here is a thread discussing some of the SZ's known issues: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=204997

Other then that, I see no reason not to buy it. I love my SZ650, it's very stylish and it handles all the work I do great. I'm always multitasking with Dreamweaver, Fireworks, iTunes, and other resource hogging programs open and it performs wonderfully.
