    Hi.

I got my Sony Z2 configured with 2x128gb SSD drives in RAID 0 configuration.

I am thinking about deleting the RAID and running as two 128gb drives instead.

I do not care at all about having just one drive (C: ) when in RAID0 vs. having two drives (C: & D: each of approx. 128gb). So that is a non-issue for me. I can live with two hard drives with two hd letters.

What I would like to know is if there's any real performance hit if I break the RAID ? Since these are fast SSD SATA III drives anyway. Would there be a performace difference ?

Haven't decided yet if to leave the RAID 0 or break it to two HDs.

I have attached my SSD Benchmark WITH RAID 0 Enabled. Was wondering how bad would it be with RAID 0 removed.

You can assume it will be 2x slower without RAID0...

Yep, your sequential read/writes should end up about 1/2 speed. Still pretty darn fast for most uses.

i've alternated between RAID 0 and seperate drives with my two C300's in my Z11, Crystal disk marks tells me there's quite a difference, but in the real world, they feel the same to me

Boot time and hibernation will be the most impacted, unless you use virtual machines as well. Big gains there or wherever there are increased IO's or heavy throughput. Will it make browsing the interwebs faster? Probably not.

Basically, you gain nothing by setting them up as JBOD's. You can just carve up the RAID0 volume into as many drives as you want.

The argument that RAID 0 puts your data at higher risk is basically moot on the Z's, and IMO. Both drives are on the same PCB

Seems as if the OP has a SATA-II, not SATA-III bus on his Z2, thus the comparatively low sequential access speeds - they would be well over 600 if SATA-III, correct? Seems like there's a bigger perceivable difference between the 3mb/s and 6mb/s data rates than RAID vs. no RAID, but someone smarter than I, and with a Z2/Z1 to compare, could say better.
