Let's say I go to a shop and buy a DDR2 RAM stick, without checking if its speed matches my laptop RAM speeds. So if the RAM I bought was faster or slower than what I currently have......what happens?
Will it run or not? or will they just lower/raise their speed to match each other?
-
If it's DDR2, all sticks then run at the slowest speed.

Awesome!! so I have no worries of compatibility as long as I get DDR2
thank u for the fast reply.

Yeah but it takes all of 3 extra seconds to make sure that you get the correct speed. Plus it doesn't cost any more to buy faster ram, so why would you not? To save the 3 seconds of your life that it takes to read the speed of the ram?

oh i know that. it was just a question of my concern. don't worry

Oh don't worry, I wasn't loosing any sleep because of that.
