Put RC1 on my laptop and here is what i'm getting... i can get everything working other than the audio, and the quick keys. Now the reason i took it off... when i am in vista i get a high pitched whine... usually when accessing stuff but its pretty constant. i dont get this in xp... anyone have any idea's?

You backed up your system, right? Do you have the recovery CD's?
Try updating the driver with ones from the recovery CD. Those might work for you if the high pitched noise is a bad driver on your sound card. -
Hate to suggest this, but I just finished going through a ton of back-and-forth customer service shipments/phonecalls/etc. with Sony b/c of the whine on my FJ270. The whine would happen for me whenever I would use specific programs, put the computer on standby, or do other seemingly regular tasks while on battery power. It didn't always happen, and didn't usually happen when the computer ran off of AC power, but it happened enough for me to complain about.
End result? Finally convinced Sony to let me put the purchase price of that laptop towards a new SZ340 --- plus they gave me a $50 e-coupon to sonystyle to help compensate for all the issues I had with my FJ.
So yeah, in *my* experience it seems like the whining problem might be something partial to the FJ270 build itself ---- I've read of several other people having similar problems. If yours doesn't whine in XP, I'd count yourself lucky. -
Thanks for the info! I think i figured out how to get all the stuff working in vista but again that whine... I have it in xp right now and does not matter if its on AC, running off battery, on stanby, it does not whine. But in vista it would not stop. I am really bummed I love this laptop but I want to be able to run vista on it. I will have to give vista another shot and see if it still does it. If so I may have to give sony a call. Did they give you MSRP on the laptop or what you paid for it? I got a really good deal on mine and i really dont want to get only what I paid for it but MSRP would be fine.

Well, I originally bought the FJ270 at MSRP, then returned it, then returned it again when the price dropped 250 bucks (three cheers for price-matching!), and then Sony credited me the amount that was listed on my final receipt (with a little extra for tax/shipping). They will, no matter what you do, always look at your receipt when addressing tech issues/returns, so I'd imagine you'd only be able to get what you paid for, if anything (Sony does not have an 'official' return policy for what they deem to be fully functioning laptops). Otherwise you'd be making money off of Sony.
