I got my Z2 about a month ago but noticed that today the refershed versions were released - should've waited a little bit longer.

Anyhow, the refreshed Z has a feature called Rapid Wake - is this a software of Sony or something? I'm wondering how I can get this function working on my Z2. Others' notebook have similar functions and I could really use the quick boot function (apparently in a couple of seconds).

Anyone know how to get Rapid Wake working on the Z2? Thanks.

short bump - anyone actually know how this works? Is this tied to intel, or ssd caching or something unique to sony?

I'd like to know if this is a feature that comes with a Sony software or what. Also, if an SSD is needed.
    Thanks.

looks to be sony only. must have a separate partition to make it work.

Thanks, but what software is needed?
Also, how big the partition has to be?

On my new SVZ, there's a 8GB Hibernation Partition that is probably used for this, but I don't know since there's also a ~6GB hiberfil.sys on C: ?

I guess that if I use hibernate, it will save memory to the hiberfil.sys, and if I use Rapid Wake, it will save it to the partition. This of course means that it has to be of equal size as the memory.

Rapid wake is significantly faster to wake up, than hibernate. Actually, it seems as fast as usual Sleep. Also somewhat faster than hibernate to shut down.

If I enable Rapid Wake (in Vaio Control Center) and Sleep, it will save mem to the partition and the power LED will go off. But if I disable Rapid Wake and go to to Sleep, it will pulsate in amber.

So, it seems it's a faster hibernate function than Windows', but that's about all.

Could you take a screenshot of the partition layout?

Could be something similar to the fast start in Windows 8. There it is a modified (cut down) version of the wake from hibernation we all know and love. It is very impressive, but has issues with switchable graphics at the moment. Should be fixed in the next release.

Note: this fast start is only applicable for a cold start - i.e. after shutdown. Restarts are not affected by this feature - they take as long as they do with this feature disabled, and do not exhibit the glitches reported above.

I think that a bios option also needs to be enabled for this to work, so its unlikely that we can get this to work with the Z2.

Don't worry, you'll get it with Windows 8 anyway. See my post on the previous page.
