    Hello,

I'm a computer programmer and im having problems installing vista on a sony vaio. (to install XP i have to slipstream drivers into the isntallion which takes too long to do) so i want to reinstall vista at this point for now my last install of vista somehow got screwed up oneday i booted up and it was missing windows files so i formatted it burned a vista install cd everything boots fine the install screen come up and everything then it has a message that comes up asking for my "DVD/CD ROM Device driver" and asks me to locate it i have searched everywhere for the drivers which are only in a exe format and i cant extract the driver files themself because the exe file wont even install on my HP Desktop that i downloaded them that im on right now.

so my question is what can i do and maybe if somebody has this driver i could try the install with

    thanks

I am in the same boat as you. I am trying to install a new fresh copy of windows onto my cousins laptop. He purchased a full oem vista. It got to the point where it asked to partition. I selected delete, than new (to wipe everything prior and to start fresh). it stopped halfway.

when trying to redo it again, it asks for drivers. drivers for what?
