Its been awhile since the last time I posted, but I was working hard so that I could purchase this beautiful machine. I have owned both an S-Series and an FS-Series and returned both due to low battery life, and other issues. I have been researching for months an love the SZ-Series.
I have a few questions before my purchase:

    1) Which is faster/or better : the 200GB 4500RPM or 160GB 5400RPM. I know the 160 is faster but isn't the 200 as fast if it has 2.16 processor?

    2) Which laptop should I buy?

    ----SZ-470 (2.16 Core Duo 2GB 200GB---Regular Carbon Fiber) 2,699$
    ----SZ-480 CTO (2.33 Processor 2GB 200GB---Regular Carbon Fiber) 2,999$
    ----SZ-491 X (2.16 200GB Premium Carbon) $2,899

    I estimated the prices.

3)Does a 2.33 Processor make a huge difference when compared to 2.13? If so what's the difference? Faster gaming? more applications open?

4)Is it true that the only difference between the 491 and 470 is the carbon fiber: one is premium and the other is not.....or am I missing something.

thank you all-------------As soon as I purchase I will write up a comparison between the SZ my old FS and my Old S -Series. Thanks again.

I'll try my best to answer all your questions.

    1) The 160GB 5400rpm HDD will be quite a bit faster than the 200GB 4200rpm HDD.

    2) If I'm purchasing the SZ, given only your listed 3 choices (cannot make other changes to the CTO model), I'll pick SZ-470N/C (2.16 Core Duo 2GB 200GB---Regular Carbon Fiber). However, my preference for the latest SZ4 series will be the SZ450N/C because of the faster HDD (160GB 5400rpm), it is without the "nasty & extra" WWAN antenna & it is a whole lot cheaper, especially if you buy it now from amazon.com.

3)2.33GHz is not that much faster than the 2.16GHz CPU. In most of our typical everyday computing tasks, you'll rarely notice the speed difference.

4)Yes. It is true that the only difference between the 491 and 470 is the carbon fiber: one is premium carbon while the other is the regular black carbon.

All the best to whatever SZ config/model you choose to buy. I'm definitely sure you'll love it. Please keep us posted on your eventual purchase & thoughts about it.

    Good luck. :)
