Hey. I recently was installing a game from a DVD (in the DVD drive of course) and my buddy was installing the same game on his laptop (different brand). His install took about 5 minutes... mine too over half an hour.

I then tried to burn a DVD for him, and it took forever. It's speed according to windows 7 was 500~kb per sec.

I looked up on google what this could possibly be, and online it mentions over and over that the drive has to not be in PIO mode... whatever that is. I followed the directions online, and using device manager, reinstalled the cd drive on the laptop.

Before the reinstall, i couldn't even see ATA channel 0 and 1 in device manager. Afterwards,I ensured PIO mode was off. I now can see the ATA channels in device manager, but it still goes slow as heck. Any anyone else run into this issue with their SR??
