My AC adapter strangely got cuts on it today, and it no longer works. I can't explain it. But I'm now in the market for a new AC adapter.

Personally, I'd rather get the same adapter I had (the one that came with the machine). I got a Kensington adapter at Best Buy to hold me over for now, as my need for one is high (I'm a grad student and have three big projects due in a week...I can't wait on a shipment from Sony). But the thing sticks out of the machine quite a bit, and I don't think it's a proper solution. I'd honestly go to NYC to go get one, but I don't want to waste the time (it'd be an all-day thing), and I'd like to do better than the price Sony wants.

Can someone recommend a place to get a good AC adapter for a good price, outside of eBay? I did some research on it, and this is part of the research; a recommendation from here will go a long way.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Funny, I was just looking at it. Didn't like the comment about the XPS though. I want to know about the imprint out of the port; the Z adapter extends only an inch out of the machine. How much for the CM?

Is there anything else I should be looking at, as well? How far does it stick out from the laptop?

An inch maybe, really it's fine. only issue I had was the usb port wasn't real happy about charging my iphone. you won't beat the size.

Okay. That works. The Kensington one is smaller, I think...but the thing sticks out from the machine a good 2-3 inches. Looks real cumbersome.

I use the Cooler Master USNA 95 as well. It actually extend less out of the machine than the original adapter. To be exact: the original Sony adapter extends exactly 2cm, while the Cooler Master extends exactly: 1.5cm. I love my USNA 95 and never had a problem with it.

I got my adaptor from these folks: battery nerds

They had the right one for my F11, not the low wattage versions many sell. Great service. I got a defective one first time out -- called them at 4 in the afternoon and they got me a replacement the next day, with prepaid return for the bad one.
