Hi all.
I have an Sony VAIO FE11S English version of recovery DVDs here.
But the laptop is in German (dont ask wtf, long story). And it is not compatible. When I try to install it from DVD it says "wrong computer version, check model". I dont know how they check this but I guess it has something to do with the Serial number of the computer, since I've formatted HDD. Now the serial number for OS, microsoft media center, is for German version, and I cannot install a fresh MC XP, because serial is not compatible (ARGH). So I am stuck here

Is there a way to install this or I'm stuck with the pirated version of windows?

This is strange... got my hands on another Recovery DVD in German, for the FE11H, so not "S" and it worked
My DVDs, that are in ENG and for FE11S are nto working
So the theory that recovery DVD is capped to only 1 model and serial number is somewhere hidden on it, fails
So must be something with UUID then? What really is this? -
I've isolated the file, that is there to "check" the language verson of the laptop, but unfortunetly it's the big sony.img file.
Does anybody know what kinda file is this, os it an image or is it just compressed. If i manage to open or repack it, it would be great...
Recovery DVD and different laptop?
