hi...i have a sony vaio SZ780 downgraded to XP by the store i bought it from.. i tried using my recovery dvd to reinstall some apps n drivers, advised by online sony reps...it didnt work, but here's my prob:

i used the sony recovery dvd in safe mode to run application recovery...and then it asked me to remove disk and reboot. then back in normal mode, i get prompted to insert recovery disk 1. when i insert my disk, nothing happens. i keep clicking OK but it doesnt accept it. all i want is to remove that prompt from my startup so i can have a fast startup with no additional windows opening up...i tried resetting BIOS (advised by sony reps).. wat else can i do? i'd like to avoid doing a system restore..thanks!

I think it works by checking the BIOS.Did you change it or modify it?

What apps do you need from the recovery DVD.

Check the post in my sig. You can download them all or if you want just a few let me know and I'll upload them.

Install and run Startup Control Panel then remove or disable art.exe from the list.
