    Hi guys,

I am running the recovery utility on my Vaio CR, I chose the Restore C drive but it always say: "Your system drive is too small or may not exist....." and can not do any recovery.
It happens even when I boot from the F10.

    Currently, I have 3 partitions: C drive: 40Gb and 21Gb Free; G drive 40Gb and 24Gb free and H drive with 61Gb

    Any help?

The recovery utility may not like seeing multiple partitions in the same harddrive. Try to delete G and H partitions. Deleting partitions will wipe out everything in that partition. So, backup everything you need before deleting the partitions. You may also want to backup the C partition because Restore C drive will wipe out C partition too.

Not if the restore option was about to try to restore an IMAGE file for a drive that was 140g. Remember these restore utilities are not restoring files they are restoring images of partitions. If the original C partiton was 140 gig when the image was created, it will have to be restored to a 140g partition. Unlike some of the other imaging apps like Ghost or Acronis the "F10" bulit-in restore apps don't have the functionality to restore to a smaller partition.

so, can anyone tell me the factory-standard partitions? Currently I have three with 40,40 and 60g respectively.

I am a new VAIO user and had exactly the same problem when I put in a brand new Hitachi 7K200 into my SZ58GN which was completely blank.

Since this was the first time I was doing a recovery on a Sony, this error came up repeatedly.

They way to get past it is to ignore the 3 options on the screen, check the SKIP option, and click NEXT.

Then it will re-format and work.

Be aware that it restores the drive to exactly the way it shipped from the factory, which means one Hidden Recovery Partition and one Regular Partition.

So you should probably backup all your partitions first.

    Regards,

    BillyB

The thing is, I chose to skip and NEXT, it then says: "Your drive is too small.............." and I can't proceed
