Just some wise advise would be nice, as I'm completely new to the way Sony seems to make it's notebooks. I have a user's guide, however it's absolutely no good to me cause it's all in Japanese... Might aswell be in double douche!

    Anyway...

I've managed to make recovery disks from the HD late lastnight via the VAIO Wizard thingy. They've been backed up onto two DVD's, labelled one and two!

For reference, is it possible to recreate the recovery partition at a later date with them? For example, the HD crashes, dies, creaks and makes funny noises... and I need to install a new one?

I know it'll happen to all hard-drives eventually... just a matter of time.
And I think this information could benefit others.

    Thanks alot! :)

The only experience I have with a Sony notebook is my wife's SZ. I put in a new hard drive and used the recovery discs to install a little while back and the recovery discs automatically created a recovery partition.

Hello, you can download model specific user's guides in your language at the Vaio site.

Thank you very much for your reply. :)

It's eased my mind a little and taken a load off!! I was beginning to wonder will the system ever be like it was, when purchased with all the bloat. :D

    On a side note:
Digging around Sony's unhelpful site, I don't think I can get the FeliCa card reader to work on an English OS, since I can't drivers for it. Oh well...
