So I picked up a Sony Vaio Z from the egg, gave up on the waiting for a replacment M11X.
I have a question about SSD drives, usually when I get a new notebook I usually just reformat the drive and install the O/S office and things I generally use.
From what I hear if you dont get a CTO model with fresh start its pretty bloated with trialware etc. and takes up a good deal of hd space, and as expense as these SSD drive I want to save as much disk space as I can.
So is there any guides or best way to do a clean win 7 install with an SSD drive sorry but I havent gotten my head completely around everything with regards to ssd.
can I just do a Win 7 install the same as a spindle drive load it delete partition and format etc? or is this not advice? Is ther a best way?
Thx in advance.

No one? seriously?

i wrote a fairly easy clean install guide for the new Z search for it.

I saw your guide however it doesnt make mention on how to wipe the drive. etc.

did you delete the partition? and reformatted?

Can't speak for the Z model, but for my FW model, I just installed the drive (SSD) and treated it just like what it is - a hard drive. Clean install is definitely the way to go. Sony's are rather finicky about the drivers and order of the drivers. Installing the drivers was where could notice the speed increase - ones that took time before were done quickly - reboots were snappy. Overall makes the computer a more pleasant/responsive experience. I've seen guides for the Z models clean install. find one you can follow and enjoy your SSD.
