So, my TZ130 is out of warranty and will no longer power on (not with battery, nor ac charger) so I guess it is repair time. It looks like I have three options:

    1) Take it to nearby Sony Store. Any experience with these for repairs?
    2) Sony Service Center. Actually not far from me since I live in San Diego.
    3) Authorized Service Center ("Sony Only Service").

Any suggestions of which is best/cheapest/fastest?

    Thanks,
    John

All vaio repairs in North America are done in san diego. When you take to sony store they have what you call backstage at some locations. backstage usually runs a diagnostic and if they cannot fix they send to san diego. I believe authorized service centers only handle tvs not notebooks. Your best bet is to take it to the sony service center in sandiego. either way prepare to empty your pockets
i know when i took my Z to backstage in boca raton florida they sent it to san diego.

I hope for you that's it's only a problem with some soldering point that got loose, otherwise is the motherboard. you might be be better off buying a new laptop if that's the case.

When you call in for a service like this, SCS will ask you to do as follow:
    1. Unplug power adapter
    2. Remove battery
    3. Push and hold power button for 20 seconds
Sometime, this procedure brings your VAIO back to work.
    Have you test this yet?

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately, I was not able to bring my laptop back to life.

I'm going to see if I can find a way to contact Sony repair in San Diego directly in hopes of bringing my laptop out there and avoiding the FedEx shuffle.
    Thanks again.
