    Hi folks!

I just got me the SZ1 and was thinking about replacing the HDD with a 7200rpm model. I note the unit has some hard disk protector stuff - but assume this is just some kinda caddy.

Has anyone here done this? If so any feedback would be appreciated. COncerned about damaging the case etc. I had replaced the HDD in my "old" Z1 and getting inside marked the finish and loosened the case somewhat.

Any procedure tips greatly appreciated :)

    Cheers

View the UNIGO pictures first to see how to disassemble the laptop.

After removing the relevant screws and moving the keyboard and palm rest attachment aside, do the following steps to replace your hard drive:

    1. RED ARROW - Remove the black sticker from the SATA ribbon cable.
    2. YELLOW ARROWS - Remove the three screws that are attached to the hard drive bracket.
    3. GREEN ARROWS - Remove the bottom left screw attached to the left edge and notice the latch holding the hard drive down.
    4. CYAN ARROWS - Push the left edge outward slowly while freeing the hard drive from the latch and carefully tilt the right side of the hard drive upward to a 45 degree angle, enough so that your fingers can grab ahold of the SATA connector. The double-sided black foam sticker and SATA cable should not be detached from the motherboard.
    5. BLUE ARROW - There is tape underneath the hard drive and the SATA connector, holding them together, so either use tweezers to remove the tape or use force to remove the connector.
    6. The hard drive bracket should now be completely disconnected from the laptop. Remove the old hard drive from the bracket and replace it with the new one. Reattach everything in reverse and you're done.
