    Hi there,

First things first - I think my SZ is a great laptop. I think the only way I'd want to realitically improve upon it would be to put a FE series type LCD on it - although the current LCD still gets an 8/10 in my book anyway.

Secondly - does anyone know if it's possible to replace the Sony recovery partition with some form of stripped down Linux to provide a 'Direct Media' (I believe this is what Dell call it, at least) type functionality to quickly access playback of audio/video/dvds?

Would seem at first glance to be quite a neat hack to just have to press F10 or whatever on startup to get access to it - rather than have some explicit multiboot menu popping up every time.

If anyone has implemented this on other Sony laptops perhaps someone would be kind enough to point out a link to some info - otherwise I suppose I might have a go at implementing something myself.

    Regards,

    Chris.
