    I have fitted a Panasonic Matsu****a UJDA720 DVD/CDRW Combo as a replacement for a faulty CDROM in an FX101.

However, it refuses to boot up with the Combo plugged in. The Power light comes on briefly and then it immediately powers off. Doesn't even get as far as the BIOS

Does this indicate that the Combo drive is faulty, or that it isn't compatible with the FX101.

Lots of websites seem to suggest that it should be compatible.

    Any suggestions?

Have you tried using your old cd rom to see if it boots up? That will eliminate the issue down to the new cd rom if the old does work. Next have you updated your bios recently, check the mfr's website for some recent updates. Post your results and we will move forward from here. Hope this helps
