So I may need to replace the hard drive in my tz180, but I can't for the life of me find where exactly the hard drive is or how to get it out. I've googled it a lot, and posts make it seem like it's obvious, so I must be blind.

I hope this thread is in the right place.

Usually there is a latch on the base. Some of the smaller models require complete disassembly to access the HDD so if it's not accessable through the base of the notebook you'll need to take it apart.

Is it just an upgrade or were you having an issue with the old one?

Unfortunately, it is not easy to access unlike the RAM which is behind a door on the bottom of the notebook.

I'm quite sure there was a disassembly guide for the TZ hidden deep in this Sony forum or at least pictures.

Your in the perfect place, someone should come along to tell you how to do it or point you to a place that can.

Looks like I may not need to replace it after all. For some reason windows would load into a blue screen with Unmountable_boot_drive error. I figured maybe the hard drive got messed up since I take it to school in my backpack. I don't keep anything important on it so I just formated and reinstalled ubuntu and windows and it seems to be working. I guess my windows just got corrupted or something.
