This topic has been posted many times, I've posted it a number of times as well but I cannot seem to get the solution to fix it. Every time I wake the SZ after putting it into sleep by closing the lid it changes the screens resolution to a lower setting. I've been on the phone with Sony and they are struggling with it. It has even been taken up as a case to to the Sony technicians.

I've done a few tests to see how it responds to different situations and here are the results:

    * If the computer wakes and changes over to the lower resolution automatically and if I then close the lid to put it back into standby without changing the resolution back to the normal 1280 x 1024 - When I open the lid to wake it up again it will actually change the screen back to 1280 x 1024

    * The computer has woken up with the resolution already at lower state it will actually automatically change back to 1280 x 1024 - this has happened only once.

    * The computer wakes up at 1280 x 1024 then after about 5 seconds it refreshes the screen and changes down to the lower res setting.

    * Other random situation responses, such as - it will change resolution if I wake the computer up on battery when I originally put the computer to sleep with the AC plug in.

    * The resolution doesn't change all the time - but enough to bug the hell out of me!

    - There no updates on the Sony website relating to driver updates from the Nvidia graphic card nor any other patches or fixes. I've done research and tried to find an answer to it but couldn't find a fix. The only solution I found which fixed the issue but domino effected onto another problem was turning of the TMM service. If I turn it off, it does not remember resolution settings for external displays if I use FN + F7.

If anyone knows anything about this issue or knows how to fix it - I will be most great full. I'm sure there is a working fix for it. Sony is not familiar with this problem, CRAZY!

Maybe try changing your monitor driver to the 'Generic PnP Monitor' one? What's the native resolution of your SZ's screen? Does this problem only affect the SZ's screen or external monitors too?
