Hello, my problem is a bit uncommon as ive been reading many of threads but no one could address it.

few days back, my laptop didnt start up as a routine boot, rather to a vaio automatic startup repair (if im not wrong), i accepted it to carry on, (unlike in previous days)....

right after it completed and restarted, it is in a restart loop, i.e, VAIO logo appears, then after "starting windows", it results in another restart i.e, "VAIO" logo screen., and an unending loop continues...

i tried "repair my computer" option, but it hangs at unwritten blue screen, with a mouse cursor..,. ive waited about 30 mins but nothing appears...
having all important data in my C DRIVE, (my documents, downloads etc), i dared to re install the windows, with a windows 7 DVD, but it freezes at "setup is starting" screen.... then with usb bootable stick,. but all in vain

somebody suggested me for ubuntu live, even it hangs on boot....

im in a deep sorrow people. please help me out.., :(

    ps: i m using Sony Vaio, VPCEB26GM, E-SERIES NOTEBOOK,

Are you saying it hangs trying to boot ubuntu off a USB stick? If so, then it sounds like a hardware issue. Maybe the memory?

I don't know the machine so can't help much. Others should be able to help more. If it uses 2 memory banks (that are accessible), you could try taking each out in turn. In Bios, if possible, you could try disabling the hard-drive just to rule that out. Try raising it in the owner's lounge if you haven't already done so.
