I purchase my vaio from sonystyle.com and I want to do a return. What I want to know is, if anyone return their notebook, did sony charge you a restocking fee. I still have all the original packaging but there is a slight problem...there is a minor scratch on my vaio near the mousepad.
So...restocking fee yes or no? And how much are sonystyle.com restocking fee?

usually there is no restocking fee, but in your case, they might charge one

So how much would the restocking fee be?

I just got off talking to a chat rep about my situation and they told me that there would be no restocking fee at all, even with the scratch. But the problem is, how reliable are they? I heard (on this forum) that they would just say anything and get you to leave them alone. I don't want to sent it in and get slap with a possible $200 fee. That's too much.

.ca anyways it can be as much as 20% so a $3000 notebook would be about $580, but dont ask us, ask the Sony drones and hope they dont notice the scratch

"there would be no restocking fee at all, even with the scratch."

I dount it. Stores usually do not accept a return unless the product is in like new condition.

Like STA's advice, documentation might help. Keep a copy of your chat log with the SonyStyle rep next time. It gives you that option (View Transcript) when you end your session and gives you a Chat ID #. When you send your laptop back, you can include a session printout in the box. Doesn't guarantee a no fee, but it's a little better than crossing your fingers. ;)

But with cosmetic damage, I'm with the others on this one. They might charge you.
