Ok, not so much of a problem as a self inflicted mistake.

On moving home, and going through my drawers of discs and rubbish, i accidently snapped in half my recovery disks, ( mistaken identity )

I have had the z well over 12 months now, and it is pretty full of programmes and media etc.

what are my options for a restore/reformat etc?.

I have a solid state 512gb HD, partitioned , for

    " C windows "
    " D Saved "
    " F Programes "
    " G Games "

I would like to keep these s they are, but my brain is fried, so i am hoping you good people can help me out and help fix stupidity.

    Sorry and thanks.

Just follow any clean install guide that is already available on this site.

If you need a Windows disk: http://forum.notebookreview.com/win...-digitalriver-windows-7-sp1-13-languages.html

Just install it to the C drive, get all drivers from the Sony support site and you'll be just fine.

(remember, you will have to reinstall everything - things that are installed to your programmes disk will not work on the new Windows, which is also why it's not that good an idea to partition your drive, unless you're really backing up static content such as installation files or photos or videos etc)

i think you can also use the vaio recovery (f10) and just reinstall windows to C if you still have the recovery partition, but make sure you backup everything first on a usb or external hd. If you dont have the recovery partition listen to ambroos and that is the only way besides ordering a new recovery disk from sony. Again back up everything important. i will not be responsible for data loss )8

Thanks Guys, I have just started to Download Windows 7 Ultimate, which is what the machine came with.

I have not deleted any partitions, just created my own.

Would resetting to factory settings, delete my newly created partitions?

And yes alot of what i have backed up , is photos/music/videos and various other rubbish.

I guess a fresh install is in order then. More reading on installation order and downloading of drivers i guess.

Ive dowloaded all the drivers and utilities, but i do not see several things in the list.

Intel chipset and battery checker, are they under a different name or been intergrated into a package.

    hmmm

In the US sony website the intel chipset is under the motherboard category. I checked on the UK website and it's under the "Originally Installed" tab.
