I currently own a first generation VAIO FS which was bought back when they were first released in Japan. The difference about the first generation is that the screen resolution stands at 1680 x 1050 rather than the rubbish 1280 x 800 the current generations have. I am thinking about upgrading my notebook to a VAIO FE which is basically the FS with a few cosmetic changes to the case and of course the Core DUO family of processors.

Knowing that I will void my warranty, does anyone know if it possible to simply swap the LCDs in the notebooks so I can continue using the screen with the 1680x1050 res? I am very comfortable with taking apart my notebook and have upgraded the CPU, HDD and memory as well as replaced the screen latches personally.
