Hey, i have a problem (kind of) with my network card. You know how sony is able to automatically connect with a wireless network if you have previously connected with, and you see that "configuration to profile successful" popup on your bottom right.. why is it that a lot of the times it says its successful, but you actually are not connected at all?

i noticed that it would say its connected successfully, but when i try to surf the net, it does not detect any internet connection and my browser gives me a "page not found" screen. When i disconnect and reconnect, and try the same things again (the same profile change occurs) then im able to surf the net. is there any way to fix this?

also, should i update my network card driver? i have a Intel Wireless Wifi Link 4965AGN.

    thanks

I guess you are using Sony WLAN utility or something like that? You might just let Windows itself handle the wireless network; it could help.

you should just try and use the windows utility. ALthough i have the sony WLAN utility running, but i dont use it to assist me in connecting to any network.
Sometimes vista takes a longer time to recognize the connection, especially if the router you're trying to conect to has special settings etc.
You can check sony support's site for driver updates/downloads for your specific model.

ok by letting windows itself handle it, what do you mean? do you mean just manually go click wireless icon at bottom right, and then click connect to network?

its just that sometimes when the signal gets picked up, sony automatically attempts to connect to it, and the profile switch occurs. i normally have to disconnect, and reconect in order for internet to work

I would assume you would turn off the WLAN utility, and then make sure that "Network Discovery" is turned on by going to "Control Panel" -> "Network and Sharing Center"
