Actually, no I didn't spend anywhere near that much money.

It was actually $798 and some change. [ :p] Given my line of work, that's only a few hours of consulting. [ ;)]

Then I pray to God that more people need your consulting than ever[ :D]. Maybe you will be the first one to confirm the feasibility of putting Dothan 2.1 GHz in S170[ :D].

Well, the CPU is upgradeable. I had a spare 1.4Ghz Pentium M (Banias version 1MB) in my labs and it worked perfectly fine in my S170P. I don't see why the 2.1Ghz version wouldn't work in the S series. It's pin compatible with the current top of the line 2Ghz version of the S and according to Intel's spec sheets it's thermal allowances are basically the same as the 2Ghz version.

Oh, I am worried about the BIOS, since 765 is announced after the BIOS release. That's the only thing I am not sure about[ :D].

Well, it's certainly a possibility but I would guess that it will work. At the current prices, I don't think it's cost effective to go to 2.1Ghz just yet. Also, I don't think they're at a point where the multiplier is drastically different than the current line.

I'm sure someone will do it soon anyways. [ :)]
