    Hi everyone,

I was down at Best Buy today and found myself drooling over a VAIO S. It is smaller than any other laptops I have considered, but it is a wonderful machine from what I can tell, and it is on sale for a pretty good price by (ugh) Canadian standards. I do not actually NEED a laptop as portable as the S, but its small size and fantastic screen are appealing to me.

My question concerns the size of the screen. I will be using this machine every day (at business school), sometimes for prolonged periods of time. I am a bit concerned that a 13.3" widescreen, glorious though it may LOOK, will not be large enough to accomodate my needs.

Does anyone here have an opinion on using such a small laptop so much? Am I going to find my eyes straining and be frustrated? Or am I paranoid about this? My eyesight is fine, good enough that I am planning to get an SXGA screen if I go to a 15" display.

    Thanks!

Screen resolution is a personal preference. My guess is that if liked the Sony it should be fine. If you want a good small portable laptop, I would look at the Fujitsu s6231. Very well built and the screen is as good if not better than the Sony. Sony, in my opinion is overpriced.

    Thanks zazonz.

The Fujitsus are great, no doubt. Unfortunately, I'm in Canada and can't really get the great customer service of P1. Picking up a Fujitsu is a lot tougher than getting the Sony ($400 off) at Best Buy and returning it if I don't like it.

Mostly I'm just worried that a 13" screen will cause me to be squinting a lot. I know I don't NEED this kind of portability...but it would be a nice bonus to be sure.

I think P1 does ship internationally, at least their webiste says so. Not sure about the duties and taxes. The nice thing about Best Buy is the return policy, if you do not mind the restocking fee.
