I recently received a Vaio S13 laptop that my dad didn't need anymore and decided to upgrade the 128gb SSD to a 480GB SSD from Crucial.
After going through their compatibility, I decided to buy the M500 2.5 inch SSD, only to find out when it arrived, that the connection on it is completely different than the stock drive.
After doing some searching, I found out that the stock SSD is mSATA, and the crucial one I purchased, being told it was compatible, is not in the same form factor. Both drives fit in the space properly, the Crucial one just won't fit onto the connector. Their customer service directed me to try and purchase their version of the 480GB mSATA drive, but the connector on that drive looks to be the same size as the 2.5 inch I already have. (I know that I could just not have the picture to the right scale, but the ratio between the length of the long connector on my stock SSD to the short connector, and the ones on both the Crucial I already have and the mSATA I was told to look at seem to be pretty different.)
Anyway, onto the question(s). Is it possible for me to just buy a different connection cable for my s13 that will work with the 2.5 inch SSD and the laptop? Or with the mSATA that crucial's customer service directed me to definitely fit the connector I already have?
Also of note, I purchased the SSD from newegg (didn't realize that crucial themselves had about the same price, and that newegg doesn't have the best of return policies for this kind of item.)

You need a 1.8" micro SSD.
