The job I currently work at is able to get me a Sony Vaio S150 for $1500. They currently sell for atleast $1900. I'm look in for a laptop for lightweight, small, something ideal for classroom work and portability. I currently own the Gateway 4525GZ and I purchased it for $1399. Spec wish, the Gateway has a lower processor, but a larger HD(which I don't care about), and a DVD Burner(which I don't care about, considering I have one in my PC).
I love the display on the Sony though, and just feel that if I'm buying the Sony purely on aestic value, the extra $100 that it'll cost me isn't worth it. Yet, to get that perticular laptop for the price of $1500, seems to good to be true from Sony. Any feedback?

The two notebooks have very different form factors. The Sony has 13.3 inch wide screen and the Gateway has a square 15 inch display. I suggest that you stop by a store and compare the S150 to the gateway or a similar laptop.

That said, I've had my S150P for a little over a month and I'm very happy. It's almost perfect. I have some minor complaints but they wouldn't prevent me from buying it again or from recommending it. I haven't had any problems. It's extremely portable, the battery life is great, the screen is awesome and the wireless works flawlessly.

$1500 sounds too good to be true. But if you can get the standard S150 for that price I say go for it.

The Sony is a far superior machine in almost every way. If you're able to swap it for the Gateway, I think that's a no brainer.

I am a newbie here and this is my first post. I highly recommend the S-150. When I was shopping for a small laptop two weeks ago, I was thinking about many different ones. I made my decision on the S-150 because of the screen, Centrino processor, and the battery life. I couldn't be happier with my decision. I take this laptop with me to college every day and I get at least 4.5 hours on batteries.
