Hi this is my first post in the forum even though i've been surfing around for a long time.

my question is there is a startup sound when the machine is turned on (at the very beginning VAIO screen). is it possible to mute the sound because i usually use my notebook to take notes during lecture and while turing on the machine the noise is kinda disturbing.

    thx~

I know what you're talking about...we have a few older Vaios at the office that do that...annoying. The only setting would be in the BIOS, if it's there at all. If no one else can answer definitively, I'll look as soon as I can get my hands on one.

Press F2 immediately after the VAIO logo disappears. You can turn off the sound and the animation in the BIOS.

I was able to change those setting through Sony Notebook Setup on the start menu. It is under the initial settings tab.
